Fall Guys Brings the Death of Tic Tacs on August 4

on | OpenCritic

Whether you think they look like candy mints, Minions, or prescription medicine, the death of Fall Guys is near. At this past weekend's Devolver Digital event, the colorful game show-style battle royale announced a launch date - and players on PC and PS4 won't have to wait long.

Fall Guys arrives on those platforms on August 4. No other platforms have yet been revealed, though they shouldn't be ruled out. Devolver Digital tends to have an exclusivity window with PlayStation games and once it expires, their games can be found on Xbox and, in some cases, Switch too

In Fall Guys, players control speedy pill-like mascots who are unfortunately tasked with running through competitive and hazardous obstacle courses until just one of 100 players is left standing. While it's PUBG on a superficial level, the end result is more akin to a Japanese game show: colorful, absurd, and probably hilarious. See for yourself in this new trailer which comes with the release date reveal.

On PC, the game will come first to Steam, marking a departure for the publisher which has sometimes sided with the Epic Games Store when deciding to choose one marketplace over the other. You can check out more screens and wishlist it right here

You would be forgiven for not being familiar with the team behind Fall Guys, but Mediatonic actually has dozens and dozens of titles under its belt. It just happens that since 2005, most of these were web-based titles. Recently the studio has worked on some major series and console games, however, including Gears POP!, Fable Fortune, and New Yahtzee with Buddies. Still, if the game lives up to its dazzling concept, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout may be the team's biggest game yet.
