Stadia Announces Partnerships with Harmonix, Supermassive, and Uppercut

on | OpenCritic

At the Stadia Connect digital showcase, the Google team revealed upcoming projects from three studios new to the Stadia platform.

Harmonix, Supermassive, and Uppercut are all working on projects which will be published by Stadia Games and Entertainment. It's unclear whether that means the games will stay exclusive forever or be timed exclusives like many current Stadia games are. We've reached out to the team and will update this post should they provide clarification.

Harmonix is of course the studio behind hits like Rock Band and the upcoming DJ game, Fuser. Supermassive is most famous for Until Dawn and the recent Dark Pictures Anthology, whose second game in that planned trilogy hits this fall in time for Halloween. Uppercut is the smallest team of the trio, comprised of six developers. They most recently released City of Brass, a sword-fighting game for consoles and PC.

Stadia is not yet ready to share more on these projects, but they help legitimize the future of Stadia at a time when many players and journalists only offer snark online regarding the platform.

Along with these upcoming projects, Stadia also fully unveiled two other projects being published by Stadia. One of them, Orcs Must Die 3, was surprise-launched during the show and is now available on the platform. The other, Outcasters, is a cute and accessible multiplayer shooter from Splash Damage, one of several studios recently acquired by the Stadia arm of Google. Unlike some other projects, Outcasters will be exclusive to Stadia as a first-party game. You can check out the reveal trailer below.

In total, 16 upcoming games were revealed for Stadia, including the modern Hitman trilogy, People Can Fly's Outriders, and Super Bomberman R Online, which brings a battle royale and Stadia-exclusive features to the platform when it launches as a timed exclusive this fall.
