Update: And here's the video! Presenting the 8-minute Nintendo Direct Mini.

Original Story: Nintendo has revealed a Nintendo Direct Mini, focusing on third-party partners, and it's coming today. Surprise!

In a concise press release, Nintendo had only this to say:

[On] Monday, July 20, at 7 a.m. PT, Nintendo will debut the first Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, a new series focused on titles from our development and publishing partners. This first installment will share a few updates on previously announced games for Nintendo Switch.

It seems we shouldn't expect any newly revealed games at this particular show, but if we're reading the publisher's words correctly, this will be the first in a series of Nintendo Direct Mini digital events, and thus, future shows may look ahead to debut titles rather than showcase more of what we've seen.

Sorry, Zelda fans, but it also sounds like this will be a third-party-focused showcase. Therefore, we shouldn't expect any news on the working-titled Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 game, which we now haven't seen in a few years. That also means we shouldn't expect any news on the Mario 35th anniversary games that have been heavily rumored for months. Least of all, we can't rightfully expect any Metroid news, but even at a normal Nintendo Direct this endeavor seems left only for the chronically heartbroken.

So what can we expect? Perhaps the indie mash-up platform fighter Bounty Battle. It was recently delayed, but remains a major indie project coming soon. The RPG Cris Tales seems possible too, as it's another we already know about that has a big following around it.

There's really a vast number of upcoming Switch titles we already know about, and we need not expect any are Switch-exclusive, so it pays to tune in at Nintendo's YouTube channel at 7 am Pacific. We'll embed the video right here when it goes live.
