The launch of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is now right around the corner with the sequel set to release exclusively on PS5 next month. However, even though the second game in the series hasn't launched yet, its creator Hideo Kojima is already thinking about what might come next.

Speaking with VGC, Kojima revealed he has already come up with a concept for a Death Stranding 3. In fact, the head of Kojima Productions admitted Death Stranding could have "endless sequels". That's thanks to something called "plate gates", a new element of Death Stranding's post-apocalyptic world that will be introduced in the sequel.

It's not clear what exactly plate gates are or how they work - I guess we'll find that out for ourselves when we start playing on June 26 - but it sounds like they'll connect the game's United States to other countries in some way. The implication from Kojima is that future games, should the series continue beyond a single sequel, could tell stories that center around what's happening in the game outside of the US.
