We now know when we can get our hands on Battletoads.
On the Xbox Wire, it was revealed that Battletoads will release on August 20th. The game will be available through Xbox Game Pass on the Xbox One and PC, and will be available to purchase on the Xbox One, Windows 10 PC, and Steam. Game Pass pre-installation on console and PC will be available soon, helping gamers be ready to jump in on launch day. Players just have to search for the game on their Xbox or the Xbox App for PC, or download the Xbox Game Pass mobile app in order to pre-install.
For those who do not know, Battletoads is about three toads, Zitz Rash, and Pimple, who come from outer space in order to deal out some mayhem. The Battletoads are able to morph parts of their bodies in order to do some damage, including items such as spiked clubs. The game pays homage to cartoons from the 90's, with the title featuring a hand-animated art style.
The original Battletoads has a reputation amongst gamers as being incredibly difficult. Developer Dlala is focusing on maintaining the original's mayhem while ensuring that gamers have enough options to play at their own pace. There will be a number of challenges in the game, such as new vehicle sections and puzzle -solving. The game will feature couch co-op, allowing up to three players to drop into the game and laying a beating down on enemies. There will be difficultly settings designed to suit everyone, from Tadpole to Battletoad.
According to publisher Rare, there is still much to share about the game before it releases, including gameplay deep dives, first glimpses of new collectible merchandise, and exclusive giveaways. There will also be a peek behind the scenes at Dlala for a look at the creative process behind Battletoads.
Battletoads will release on August 20th for the Xbox One and PC.
