We're not even halfway through the calendar year, and 2025 has already been a great year for RPG fans.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the highlight of the year thus far, with plenty of other hits behind it. Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii is a great spin-off of the Yakuza franchise, and countless other RPGs have been wonderful hidden gems this year, such as Mandragora. Of course, we couldn't possibly forget Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
Speaking of the Elder Scrolls franchise and style of games, there's one RPG that was released earlier this year, though, with a lot of expectations on it. Avowed is the long-awaited Obsidian Entertainment open-world RPG that isn't what I expected, but I loved every second of it. It certainly scratched that Elder Scrolls itch and had me excited to dive back in and experience the game again. Now, thanks to a new roadmap, there's more waiting for me when I return to the Living Lands.
