Over three years ago, we embarked on our journey of The Lands Between in Elden Ring. We were blown away by the sheer vastness of the land, after which we were promptly crushed by the Tree Sentinel or ridiculed for being maidenless. Good times! However, nothing could prepare us for the first time we found an elevator to the underground.
We'll have to wait and see what exactly Elden Ring Nightreign is, but it's certainly not a straight-up sequel!
It was then we realised that besides the huge overworld of The Lands Between, FromSoftware also created a massive underground section filled with its own secrets and lore. Through the dark and twisted tunnels we eventually stumbled upon one of Elden Ring's biggest mysteries, the massive skeletons sitting on thrones.
We all thought that skeleton was going to wake up to initiate a boss fight, but the fact that it stayed dead made us ponder even more. There have been plenty of theories over the years, but most of them are assumptions based on cryptic item descriptions or datamined content. Over three years after launch, fans are still hoping for a definitive answer.
