"I Would Not Do That”: Veteran Writer On If He Would Return For Half-Life 3

Everything seems to point at the fact that Half-Life 3 exists. Reliable insider Tyler McVicker, who has been at the forefront of the HLX (project name for HL3) investigations, has claimed that the game is playable "from end-to-end". Meanwhile, a Valve concept artist has said that he was "in the room where they made Half-Life 3."

The wait between Half-Life games is starting to look uncomfortably normal.

It seems all that's remaining is an official announcement by Valve, but as we know, the company works at its own whims and fancies. You'd think that Valve might want to bring back some of the old guard if Half-Life 3 was indeed real, but it seems that some of them wouldn't return even if asked. At least in the case of veteran series writer Marc Laidlaw.

In a conversation with IGN, Laidlaw discussed his short story 400 Boys, which was adapted into a video short for Netflix's Love, Death, and Robots. However, with all the rumours of Half-Life 3, there was no way Laidlaw could escape a question about it, especially since he was the lead writer of the series.
