Halo Infinite is still coming in 2021, despite what some current rumors have been indicating.
Rumors had begun circulating that Halo Infinite was being delayed to 2022, and that the game would no longer release for the Xbox One. However, it seems that these rumors are baseless. On Twitter, the rumors were shot down. A fan stated that they were seeing the rumors that Halo Infinite was being delayed out of 2021. That post saw a response from John Junyszek, Community Manager at 343 Industries, who assured everyone that plans for the upcoming Halo entry are still continuing as planned.
"Hey Eric - we're seeing lots of fake "leaks" out there, so please don't believe everything you read," Junyszek stated. "There are no plans to change our 2021 release or the devices and platforms we'll be supporting. We're building Halo Infinite to be the best it can be on each device / platform."
Earlier this month it was announced that Halo Infinite would be delayed into 2021. The game was meant to ship this coming holiday season. The delay was due to a number of different factors. One of the main factors that caused 343 Industries to push the game back is the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has been affecting the team. According to studio head Chris Lee, it was not "sustainable for the well-being of our team or the overall success of the game to ship it this holiday." Lee also stated that delaying the game would give the team extra time to finish the critical work that they feel is necessary in order to deliver a game of the quality that they know fans are expecting.
Halo Infinite will release sometime in 2021 for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. A time window for the game's release has not been given at this point.
