NateTheHate, a well-known and reliable leaker, has suggested that the decision to port Starfield to PlayStation 5 has already been made.
"Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5 and the intent should be announced this year," they write. "It's just a matter of when the announcement will happen."
It should come as no surprise that Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5, as Xbox has made no secret of its new strategy of releasing first-party titles on PlayStation 5. Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 5, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Grounded, and many more first-party titles have already made their way onto PlayStation 5.
It has not been a consistent strategy from Xbox, as certain first-party games like Avowed and South of Midnight don't appear to have port plans. It seems like guaranteed commercial successes like Indiana Jones and now Starfield are the priorities for Xbox.
It's unknown if Xbox will begin developing games for PlayStation 5 as a standard from now on, or if they will continue to port games a few months (or years) after the game's initial release.
