It's Official: Mortal Kombat 1 Won't Have Additional DLC

Despite oodles of hopium, as well as word from Ed Boon himself regarding long-term support, it's been confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will no longer receive additional DLC in the form of characters or story chapters.

In an official statement posted to the Mortal Kombat Twitter account, NetherRealm acknowledged "players’ requests for continued game support," but noted that outside of balance adjustments and fixes, there would be no further content.

Friday's update puts to bed what many fans had already come to expect, as it was revealed last week that MK1 would be getting a "Definitive Edition," an almost guaranteed sign that content was complete. That announcement didn't sit particularly well with fans, especially considering that, as recently as last September, Boon shared that "NetherRealm is still fully committed to supporting Mortal Kombat 1 for a long time to come."

In a follow-up post, it was shared that NetherRealm will shift its focus to its next project in "order to make it as great as we possibly can."
