If you've been waiting for news on Tarsier Studios' Little Nightmares 2, one of the most important news items has dropped: a release date. The sidescrolling horror platformer will arrive on Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on February 11, 2021. What's more, next generation consoles will host the game at a later date as well.
Little Nightmares 2 is the sequel to 2017's atmospheric platformer about a little girl lost in a horrific world full of all sorts of monsters. The entire game carries the feeling of a child's actual nightmares, hence the name, with grotesque strangers of various shapes and sizes constantly lurking in the dark.
Originally titled Hunger, Little Nightmares went on to make quite a name for itself and even spawned a mobile game spinoff, Very Little Nightmares, in 2019. Litte Nightmares garnered "Strong" critical consensus from 133 reviewers in 2017, giving the game a 79 average. Its three DLC chapters expanded the world by telling a side-story with another character whose path you cross in the main game.
The sequel will again introduce new characters, both friends and foes, some of whom we can see in this new trailer for the creepy game.
Of the story, Tarsier Studios has this to say:
"Little Nightmares II follows the story of Mono, a young boy trapped in a world distorted by the humming transmission of a distant Signal Tower. With Six, the girl in a yellow raincoat, together they set out to discover the grim secrets of the world whilst fleeing from the monstrous residents out to capture them."
Little Nightmares 2 will launch on February 11, 2021.
