Helldivers 2 was released on February 8th, 2024, and has given gamers an incredibly unique co-op experience, where squads are forced to strategize and work together to defend Super Earth from hostile alien races. The latest update, Heart of Democracy, has fans rushing back to defend the planet, and Arrowhead Game Studios CCO Johan Pilestedt says "I think this is the largest simultaneous return of players for Helldivers" (via x.com)
The update came out on May 20th, and if you take a look at the HD2 Steam Charts, you'll notice the surge of players began just prior to the updates' release, marking a 233.7% concurrent player count gain over the last 30 days. On the day of Heart of Democracy's release, Pilestedt posted on x.com stating that HD2 currently had "Around 2.5 million Helldivers playing the game every week, super excited to see how many more log in with this update!"
