Major Developer Reveals Exactly How Long They’ve Had Switch 2 Development Kits

In the lead-up to the Nintendo Switch 2's launch, there has been some debate as to how long third-party developers have had to work on the console. Initially, there were reports that devs had development kits in their studios in 2023; however, they may have been wide of the mark. Instead, a more recent rumor suggested that many mid-sized studios were still waiting for their development hardware.

No Man's Sky fans can expect support for a long time yet.

We've now got our first official indication of how long development kits have been out in the wild, though. No Man's Sky creator Hello Games has shared that it's had Switch 2 development kits "for the last year" while creating the Switch 2 version of its space hit.

In a new press release, Hello Games revealed that it will be releasing a Switch 2 version of No Man's Sky. It shared that this new version of the game will do everything that the original Switch struggled with.
