Dirt 5 was due to launch next month, but Codemasters has revealed the game will now launch in November on all platforms, with the current-gen versions coming first, but much closer to next-gen.
On Xbox One, PC, and PS4, Dirt 5 will launch on November 6. Then, following the next-gen console launch of the Xbox Series X/Series S and the PS5, Dirt 5 will launch on those platforms as well, utilizing a free upgrade system for both console manufacturers, including Xbox's branded Smart Delivery.
The next-gen launches have no confirmed release date yet, but this is likely because we still don't know when the next-gen consoles will launch. Microsoft recently confirmed the Xbox Series S will come out on November 10, so the Series X date seems likely to fall on the same date, but the PS5 date is totally up in the air.
Here's more from the Codemasters team:
DIRT 5 will be released on Friday, November 6 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox One X, and PC, followed by Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 later this year. A Google Stadia version will release in early 2021. Players who purchase the Amplified Edition will receive exclusive content and three days early access. The game supports both Xbox Smart Delivery and PlayStation’s free upgrade when players switch to an Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5.
The Codemasters team recently revealed Playgrounds mode, which will give players a unser-generated content toy box to play with, creating new levels for other players to play and vote on, pushing the best content to the top of the heap. We should finally - finally - know the launch dates of all next-gen consoles soon, and then games such as Dirt 5 can tell us their release dates too.
