After a year of waiting, Capcom waltzed on the Summer Game Fest stage, said it had no news, and told everyone to wait some more. With nothing but a conveyor belt of confusing and contradictory Resident Evil 9 rumours for months on end, it was sorely disappointing.

We even wrote an entire news article about just how disappointing it was. You'll have noticed that it got deleted, because not even an hour later, the showcase was capped off with a surprise Resident Evil 9 reveal, introducing us to its protagonist, Grace Ashcroft. You jabaited us, Capcom, but that was one helluva trailer.

Oh, and more importantly, the game will release on February 27, 2026.

As pointed out by Dusk Golem, that name might seem familiar: she's a pretty deep-cut choice for the lead role.
