After Ubisoft released Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition, I figured that would be all we'd see of the franchise. After all, it's an incredibly enjoyable beat 'em up, and as much as I love Scott Pilgrim, pop culture has moved on.
Thankfully, developer Tribute Games never got the memo and announced Scott Pilgrim Ex at Summer Games Fest. Yes, the same Tribute Games known for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge.
The team is also hard at work on the upcoming Marvel Cosmic Invasion, another classic beat 'em up, that's set to release later this year.
“In a way it’s kind of natural, and the genesis of Tribute, to go back to that IP,” Tribute marketing and publishing manager Eric Lafontaine told Polygon. “It’s in our DNA in a way, and it’s just coming back through those roots and doing a great different game. It’s just natural.”
Producer Remi Lavoie also told Polygon how Scott Pilgrim Ex differs from Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
