Yesterday, at the Summer Game Fest show, Embark Studios revealed the ARC Raiders release date. While that should have been a time of celebration for players, it quickly turned into a sour point, given most players assumed we'd be seeing a shadow drop of the game on the same day.
This wasn't helped by the fact that the closed test client got updated, which suggested a release was imminent.
Not only that, but Embark even hid a countdown, which fans assumed would lead to the game's release once it was over. Instead, it led to another countdown to the release date for October, which drove some community members over the edge.
Embark Acknowledges Mishandling Of Hype For ARC Raiders
In a statement on the ARC Raiders Discord server, Embark Studios acknowledged the error on their end. "In the lead-up to the ARC Raiders date reveal, we put out a countdown to June 6. This gave the false impression that we would be shadow dropping the game. Instead, you found out that ARC Raiders is coming on October 30, making it a countdown to a countdown."
