One of the biggest surprise announcements made during the summer 2025 Xbox Games Showcase was for Beast of Reincarnation, an upcoming futuristic samurai game made by Pokemon developer Game Freak, and it’s coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
It’s a common misconception that Nintendo owns the Pokemon franchise. It’s actually owned by The Pokemon Company, which consists of three different entities: Nintendo, Creatures Inc., and Game Freak. This means Game Freak is free to make titles for other platforms, even though it spends the bulk of its time on Pokemon.
It seems that Game Freak is branching out from the world of pocket monsters for a change. Game Freak is working on a title called Beast of Reincarnation, whose trailer was shown during the Xbox Games Showcase, and is now available on the Xbox YouTube channel.

Beast of Reincarnation is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5 in 2026. What’s notable about the announcement is that it wasn’t confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s possible that it will be revealed for Nintendo’s beefier hardware further down the road.
