VOID Interactive has had a bit of a busy year with Ready Or Not. The Ireland-based company closed 2024 by releasing the Dark Waters DLC, then surprised players in April with the announcement of a console port.
The tactical shooter, broadly touted as the spiritual successor to Irrational Games' SWAT 4, is coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Although VOID did not explicitly comment on this, the general assumption is that the Xbox Series S is not able to run the game at an acceptable performance. It wouldn't be the first time that Microsoft's budget model fails to meet modern gaming demands.
Since its early access release in December 2021, Ready Or Not has been marred in controversy, primarily related to its level design and the themes approached by the game.
The game shocked the world by including a level closely resembling Columbine and Gus van Sant's adaptation of the event, Elephant. Ready Or Not then hit the headlines again in 2022 when it released a level that bore resemblance to the 2016 Pulse Nightclub shooting.
The level was also briefly removed from the game due to a copyright infringement claim from British nightclub chain Pryzm....
