A lot was riding on Lies of P, the hotly anticipated Pinocchio soulslike that proudly wore its Bloodborne inspirations on its sleeve (thus becoming the stand-in for desperate fans eagerly wanting more). When it launched in 2023 after a brief delay, it more than exceeded those expectations and was quickly heralded as one of the best Soulslikes not developed by FromSoftware.

That was reflected in its peak player count, opening to an impressive 19,618 players despite also debuting on Game Pass. But that was only the beginning for Neowiz's first steps into the genre, as when it shadowdropped the first expansion during Summer Game Fest, the hit soulslike saw a major boost.

Its new peak as of two days ago is 30,095 players, far exceeding its original figure, but even its 24-hour peak at the time of writing surpasses its two-year record. Overture is an even bigger hit than Lies of P was, and despite the initial hubbub about Neowiz implementing an easy difficulty option, a big point of controversy among Soulslike fans, it has opened to 'Mostly Positive' reviews.
