During the recent Xbox Showcase, Microsoft revealed that it will be joining Mario Kart World in the $80 club with The Outer Worlds 2. Nintendo has already received a lot of flak for the pricing of its kart racer, but that's because it's one of the most beloved series of all time. Outer Worlds, however, didn't quite reach the same heights.

Obsidian and Xbox charging $80 for The Outer Worlds is a direct betrayal of its themes and characters.

There hasn't been that big of a pushback for the pricing of The Outer Worlds 2, because most people will probably play it via Game Pass. However, those who aren't subscribed to the service will have to shell out for Obsidian's space-faring RPG. Director Brandon Adler had a few opinions on the price of the game.

"We're a game developer. We love to make games. We don't set the prices for our games," said Adler in a conversation with GamesRadar+. "Like, personally, as a game developer, I wish everybody could play my game, because that's what I want out of this whole thing.
