Sony CEO Says PS5 Finally Has More Players Than PS4

Sony has confirmed that the PS5 has finally beaten the PS4 in monthly player numbers, with its current console taking five years to outstrip its predecessor in engagement.

The PS4 is one of the best-selling video game consoles of all time, shipping over 100 million units. This makes it the fifth best-selling system, and Sony’s second best overall, with the PS2 still being the top-ranked overall. The PS5 has yet to hit those highs, and is unlikely to, but it has still sold an impressive 70+ million units to date.

The PS5 is catching up to its predecessor in terms of engagement. According to Video Games Chronicle, Sony has reported that the PS5 has surpassed the PS4 in terms of monthly active users, with the new system accounting for over half of the 124 million players.

More People Are Playing The PS5 Than PS4

It’s no surprise that players have gradually shifted to the PS5. If anything, it took longer than anticipated, due to how much of a pain it was to buy a system during its first two years.
