Elden Ring Nightreign has divided opinion ever since launch, so much so that it currently has one of the lowest Metacritic scores a FromSoftware game has seen over the past decade. It's a similar story when you look at user reviews too, as Elden Ring Nightreign is sitting at a user score of 6.4 on Metacritic too.

However, there is one place that Elden Ring Nightreign has been getting a lot of love, and that's on Steam. It's currently sitting at a user rating of Mostly Positive, and is actually now reviewing better than Shadow of the Erdtree, a DLC which some consider to be one of the best ever made, and was routinely nominated for awards towards the end of 2024.

This was first spotted by Reddit user Offisapup, as if you look at Elden Ring Nightreign's SteamDB page, you'll see that the game has a rating of 77.69 percent, with 78.61 percent of the game's Steam reviews being positive. In comparison, Shadow of the Erdtree has a SteamDB rating of 69.66 percent, with 70.29 percent of its user reviews being positive.

Nightreign might be more important to the story of Elden Ring than we first thought.
