"This Broke My Brain": Classic Starter Pokémon's Reimagined Evolutionary Line Gets Mixed Reactions

A Pokémon fan on Reddit has shared what an evolution line for one of the original starter Pokémon might look like if the evolutions were similar to Digimon, and the re-imagined stages and complexity are sparking a lot of mixed reactions and discussions about evolutions in both franchises. Pokémon seems to be focused on bringing back Mega Evolutions for 2025, so it isn't too much of a surprise that a conversation about evolutions is arising.

In a Reddit thread by Cranberry-Holiday, the user captured a screenshot and captioned the image with "The Bulbasaur line but as a Digimon evolution tree." The image is complex, illustrating the odd evolution branches and creature designs that are present throughout Digimon, using Bulbasaur and sort-of-related Pokémon as an example. The_only_Ase69 summed up the image as confusing, writing, "As someone who knows absolutely nothing about Digimon, looking at this broke my brain."
