As early as 2002, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee ignored the technical leap forward represented by the open-world *GTA III* - released shortly before - to offer a simple, straightforward formula. Today, as the world awaits the next generational leap promised by GTA VI, this Remastered edition arrives somewhat unexpectedly to revive that classic, no-frills formula from 2002, with a slightly revamped look. Go into Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered with the expectation that this is merely a remaster, so it can feel antiquated or even a bit clunky in some areas. Still, bring a friend or three along for local co-op, and you'll get a good amount of fun from the sheer chaos of Godzilla and other kaiju throwing buildings at each other.

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered brings back an entertaining Kaiju fighting experience with impressive monster designs, excellent scale, and plenty of environmental destruction. Its straightforward combat makes it accessible to casual players, while the different monsters, unlockable content, and multiple gameplay modes provide enough reasons to keep coming back. However, inconsistent hit detection, relatively basic combat mechanics, and a somewhat grindy progression system prevent it from reaching its full potential. Hardcore fighting-game fans might find its mechanics too simplistic, but fans of Godzilla and anyone looking for an entertaining monster brawler will find plenty to enjoy. Despite its shortcomings, this is a solid remaster of a classic Kaiju fighting game that is well worth experiencing.

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is an exceptionally competent remaster that successfully brings a title once lost to older consoles into the modern era. With attractive visuals, quality-of-life improvements to character unlocks, and solid combat carried over from the original, this is both a great Godzilla game and a highly entertaining fighting game—one that masterfully captures the sensation of controlling a Kaiju in the middle of a city.
