Details for Pokémon GO's Halloween Event Have Been Released

Pokémon GO will be celebrating Halloween.

On the Pokémon GO blog, it was revealed that Pokémon GO will be hosting a Halloween event this year. The event Will begin this Friday, October 23rd at 6:00 p.m. PST. It will run until Tuesday, November 3rd, at 6:00 p.m. PST. 

A number of things will be going on during this event. Ghost-type Pokémon will appear more often in the wild, in raids, and hatched from eggs. Costumed Gengars can be found in raids, and costumed Sableye may appear in the wild. Darkrai will be featured in five-star raids. Galarian Yamask will make its debut in Pokémon GO, and will be a part of the Special Research, A Spooky Message Unmasked. Spiritomb can also be encountered through the A Spooky Message Unmasked Special Research. 

During Pokémon GO's Halloween event, there will be holiday-exclusive Field Research tasks. Those who have completed the Mega Buddy Challenge Timed Research will be able to participate in exclusive Timed Research that will net Gengar Mega Energy. There will be new avatar items in the shop, as well as Creepy Crate, Boo Bundle, and Pumpkin Pack boxes. Players will be able to take snapshots for spooky surprises. Gamers will also receive a bonus 2x the amount of Transfer Candy and Catch Candy during the event. 

There will also be a number of ways to celebrate Halloween during the event:

  • Alolan Marowak Raid Day - On October 31st, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Alolan Marowak will appear more often in raids.
  • Catch Mastery: Ghost Day - On October 25th, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time, Ghost-type Pokémon will appear more often in the wild. There will also be event-exclusive Timed Research for players to complete.
  • GO Battle League: Halloween Cup - From October 26th at 1:00 p.m. PST to November 3rd at 1:00 p.m. PST, the Halloween Cup will go live in the GO Battle League. While playing in this format, players will only be able to choose Poison-, Bug-, Ghost-, Dark-, and Fairy-type Pokémon with 1500 CP or less. Gamers may earn encounters with costumed Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
