The creator of Phasmophobia is teasing the game's major Horror 2.0 update, which promises to rework many aspects of the title when it releases sometime in 2026. Half a decade after its initial release in Early Access, Phasmophobia continues to be one of the most popular co-op paranormal horror games on the market, attracting thousands of players daily across PC and console.
Initially developed by a single person, Phasmophobia launched during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and quickly became a go-to for popular streamers, helping the indie title promptly rise to the top of sales charts in 2020 as a viral hit. The title snagged the award for Best Debut Game at The Game Awards 2020, and years after its PC release, Phasmophobia was released on consoles in October 2024. The horror game has now sold over 22 million copies, and development isn't quite finished, with the title's creator shining some light on what players can expect when Phasmophobia finally launches into Version 1.0 next year.
