The long-rumored new God of War title is now looking more likely, as industry insider Jason Schreier weighs in on a discussion forum. After the well-received Valhalla free DLC for God of War: Ragnarok provided an epilogue to the end of the Norse Saga, fans have wondered when another game in the beloved franchise would be released, as well as what mythologies it could possibly explore. While we don't have specifics yet, it looks like developer Sony Santa Monica might be returning to the series soon.
According to a post from jschreier (the account name of Jason Schreier on ResetEra), the industry insider is claiming that Sony Santa Monica's next game, directed by Cory Barlog, is not a new IP and is a new God of War game, with him writing: "Why does everybody think Barlog's game is a new IP?" This doesn't directly confirm it's a God of War game, but Barlog was the director of the 2018 God of War reboot, and God of War is Sony Santa Monica's biggest franchise.
Early this year, it was rumored that the next God of War game would be returning to Greece, and it would be released in 2025....
