Marvel Rivals managed to deal a huge blow to Overwatch 2 when it first launched, but eventually, the complaints started to pile up. Season 2 proved especially divisive, with many unhappy with the state of the game. While there has been some effort to address that, one of the most frustrating issues is still present in Season 3 - there are no placement matches in competitive.

As a result, Marvel Rivals players complain that it's taking far too long to rise through the ranks, as they feel that players get stuck in tiers that do not accurately reflect their skill. Due to this, they are asking NetEase to implement a feature that Overwatch 2 boasts, having us play through placement matches at the start of every new season.

This was in response to the Marvel Rivals devs rolling out warnings for smurf accounts, which was a common complaint about competitive. While this was welcomed by the community, not everyone is convinced that this has addressed the issue of gameplay quality.
