It's been a pretty rocky road for Sid Meier's Civilization VII. Despite plenty of promise and enjoying my time with the game at launch, it has failed to capture the same imagination as past titles in the iconic series.
Civ 7 was always going to be divisive among fans. That's just the nature of the franchise. Everyone hates the newest game until they come to love it. Civ 7 is different, though.
It brings sweeping changes that drastically alter the well established formula that go beyond simple improvements. The Age system is a massive change, and even months after release, I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I wish it let me change my leaders, not the entire civ, but I digress. Suffice it to say, most people are content sticking with Civ 6 or other 4X strategy games.
Beyond that, though, certain features were inexplicably missing from the game at launch. Firaxis has been hard at work addressing these issues, but they're about to change one of my biggest.
