Amidst the fantasy roleplaying, hundreds of hours of gameplay, and tons of content, it's easy to overlook how funny Baldur's Gate 3 is. The scenes at camp and the banter between our beloved companions can always make us chuckle despite the world-ending threat we face. However, it's always funnier when the comedy is unintended.

Speaking of which, one Baldur's Gate 3 player was surprised to learn that the NPC they thought was a joke character turned out to be one of the origin characters.
Depending on when you come across him, Wyll has the flashiest introduction out of all the companions. He shows up in swashbuckling fashion at the gate of the Emerald Grove to help fight off the goblins. You can later recruit him, and watch his story unfold. However, Redditor Iwasdracula missed all of this as Wyll unfortunately died in the first encounter, making them think it was all a joke.
