Mario Game You Can’t Even Buy Anymore Gets Switch 2 Update

There has been a steady influx of updates to original Switch games to improve their performance on the more powerful Nintendo Switch 2, but the latest gives a boost to a game that you can't even purchase on the eShop anymore. Super Mario 3D All-Stars bundled Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy into one package when it released for the Switch in 2020, and its controversial delisting has reared its ugly head once again.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars has received a new update to improve its performance on the Nintendo Switch 2, as spotted by Game Rant. It's a nice gesture for anyone looking to revisit one of the excellent classics on their new console, but it's an effectively useless update for newcomers to the ecosystem. Super Mario 3D All-Stars was delisted from the eShop and physical copies ceased production in March 2021, roughly six months after it launched. The limited release was intended to be a celebration of Super Mario's 35th anniverary, but the decision proved to be very controversial with consumers.
