It's safe to say that Splitgate 2 hasn't had the start to life its developers had hoped for. Following the disastrous Summer Game Fest showing by creator Ian Proulx and an extortionately priced cosmetic bundle, Splitgate 2 suffered dismal player numbers. The numbers were so low, in fact, that less than a month after launch, 1047 Games sadly laid off staff, with the studio heads sacrificing their salaries in the process.

As more time passes, the extent of Splitgate 2's waning player base becomes more apparent, and in 41 days, the game has dropped to a low the original took 226 to reach.

According to data from SteamDB, on July 18, Splitgate 2 managed a peak concurrent player count of just 2,033 players (dropping as low as 548 at one point). That means, following its official launch on June 6, it's reached this low point in just 41 days.

By contrast, (again using data from SteamDB), the original Splitgate didn't drop as low as that until March 10, 2022, where it peaked at 2,012 players, following its launch on July 22,...
