According to a recent rumor, Starfield's second DLC expansion is likely delayed beyond 2025. In September 2023, Bethesda's long-awaited sci-fi RPG launched to high expectations. Though initial impressions were generally positive, the game's rating fell to "Mixed" on Steam as players got to know it better. The absence of Bethesda's beloved hand-crafted locations in favor of procedural generation to facilitate the expanded vision was a particular point of contention for many fans. Despite efforts to ensure otherwise, Starfield did not manage to reach the same heights as the company's other franchises, like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.
