The Pokemon Company has announced a new wave of Pokemon plush merchandise, specifically for fans of the franchise’s trading card game. The trading card game, originally licensed to Magic: The Gathering’s Wizards of the Coast, was a late 90s phenomenon, releasing eight expansion sets between 1998 and 2003. The Pokemon tabletop game has since spawned Pokemon TCG Online and Pokemon TCG Pocket, as digital alternatives.
Of course, the TCG was inspired by Game Freak and Nintendo’s RPG games for the Game Boy, beginning with Pokemon Red and Blue. The latest addition to the video games portfolio will be Pokemon Legends: Z-A, confirmed for an October 16, 2025, release on Nintendo Switch 2. To generate more hype around the upcoming Switch game, the next Pokemon Presents runtime has supposedly been leaked, and fans are hoping the showcase will delve deeper into the succeeding Legends entry.
