Pokemon GO's August 2025 Community Day has been officially announced, months after Rookidee was already confirmed as the featured creature. The newly detailed Pokemon GO event will take place at the tail end of August.
In February 2020, Niantic began experimenting with allowing Pokemon GO Community Days to be actually decided by the community. Players could vote in-game by completing Field Research tasks, with each task counting as one vote for a candidate creature. While this format was not used for every Community Day that followed, player voting returned in various forms more than half a dozen times over the next five years.

The latest example of this trend materialized back in June, when players got to vote on the August 2025 Pokemon GO Community Day. Rookidee won the vote, which Niantic confirmed on June 10.
