It was just a few weeks ago when The Medium was given a release date of December 10, but now it's been pushed back about a month and a half to late January.
Citing both the ongoing pandemic as well as the scheduled releases of other video games (see: Cyberpunk 2077), Bloober Team, the studio behind horror games such as Layers of Fear and Observer, has moved its next horror story to January 28.
After much careful thought and consideration, today we have made the difficult decision to delay the launch of The Medium to January 28, 2021.
It wasn't an easy choice to make, but one made due to the COVID-19 situation in Poland, as well as the current schedule of other games on the market. Bloober Team remains committed to delivering our biggest, most ambitious, fear-inducing experience to date. The additional development time will allow us to add further polish, ensuring we deliver our innovative, genre-pushing vision of interactive psychological horror.

The Medium is set to launch as an Xbox exclusive on consoles, though it will also be available at launch on PC. Its central mechanic of Dual Reality exploration sends players down two simultaneous worlds, our own, and an otherworldly hellscape somewhat like the rusted-out visions in Silent Hill. It also features new music from Akira Yamaoka, the longtime composer of Konami's famous horror series. Players traverse both worlds at once using the power of next-gen consoles and PC, meaning the game is not coming to current-gen platforms. This will be Bloober Team's first horror game set in third-person after Layers of Fear, Observer, and Blair Witch all told their horror stories from a first-person point of view.
The Medium launches on January 28, 2021.
