Two games outsold Mario Kart World on the Switch 2 eShop last month, but one of them isn't even really a game

You might think the Nintendo Switch 2 launch month charts aren't worth looking at since they'll all just have Mario Kart World at the top of the pile. Despite the console's first game dominating physical sales throughout June, though, it has had to settle for third place in the eShop chart behind Deltarune, and yes, really, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour.

That's according to a new report courtesy of Newzoo, which has pulled launch month Switch 2 eShop data from six leading markets, including the US and the UK. Based on digital units sold through the eShop, Deltarune was the Switch 2's bestseller in June. Welcome Tour was right behind it, and then Mario Kart World rounds out the top three.

Welcome Tour is essentially an introduction to the system that costs $10.

It felt like everyone who managed to bag a Switch 2 at launch was playing nothing but Mario Kart World, and that's because in the grand scheme of things, they were. While it's still impressive that two games managed to outsell the new Mario Kart on the eShop, the main reason behind that is that there wasn't much need for anyone to buy a digital copy...
