Grounded has a lot to celebrate this week. Obsidian's little-big survival game revealed a major milestone, its biggest update yet, and news for new-gen gamers. Let's start with the update.
Grounded has received a new free title update, and it's the biggest the game has received yet. In it, players can explore a new underwater biome, the Koi Pond (watch your step, Michael Scott). There you'll find new predators, such as tadpoles, water boatmen, and even diving bell spiders - yes, I regret to inform you some spiders can swim. Of course, the star of the show are the koi fish.
New recipes come in various forms, including Slime Lantern, Bone Trident , Pebblet Dagger, Gill Tube Rebreather "and much more" according to Obsidian. The update is available now and free for all players.
Onto the milestone, Grounded has now cleared five million total players. While the game remains in Xbox Game Preview, it was also a day-one Xbox Game Pass title due to Microsoft's new ownership of Obsidian Entertainment. Since then, Game Pass players as well as Game Preview buyers have eclipsed five million total since the game launched at the end of July.
The studio took the opportunity to remind players that Grounded is one of the games optimized for the new generation of Xbox consoles. Here's what to expect if you're playing Grounded on the new platforms:
"Grounded is running at 60fps on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, offering unparalleled gameplay performance for next generation console players, with full 4K support and improved draw distance and shadow quality on the Xbox Series X. Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S users will experience increased graphical fidelity, improved loading times, and HDR support."
Grounded is available now in Game Preview on Xbox One, as well as Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam Early Access.
