The end of an era is coming for Final Fantasy 14, as the conclusion to the Dawntrail expansion will be released very soon. This has been a somewhat controversial time for FF14, with a lot of the game's fan base feeling the expansions and updates are becoming "same-y" and the game's director, Naoki Yoshida, better known as Yoshi-P, encouraging players to check out other games. After these relatively rough waters, fans might be relieved that the Dawntrail arc is almost over.
The Patch 7.3 official trailer was posted by the Final Fantasy 14 YouTube account, and the update will release on August 5 and will conclude the Dawntrail storyline (via Eurogamer). The update, titled The Promise of Tomorrow, will also set up story beats to come for the post-expansion storyline that will come in additional patches until the release of the next major expansion.
The initial reception to Dawntrail was mixed at best, with many fans praising the game's new dungeons and locations, but criticizing the overuse of new protagonist Wuk Lamat and the generally unimpressive story.
