Fortnite player Gavin “Geerzy” Gear has sold their Creative map, The Pit, to War Thunder studio Gaijin Entertainment as part of a multi-million dollar deal. While other Fortnite creators have earned money selling custom content, this transaction is unique given the large amount of money exchanged and the buyer being an established game publisher like Gaijin.
Gaijin, for those unfamiliar, is best known for publishing War Thunder, one of the longest-running free-to-play military-themed MMOs. While popular, the game has seen its fair share of controversy over the years, including instances of review bombing on Steam following changes to its monetization system and last year’s apology from Gaijin after it used Space Shuttle Challenger imagery in War Thunder key art.
