Friday the 13th has never recaptured the heights of its steady releases in the 1980s, but according to the latest news out of SDCC, things are ramping up for Jason once more. While it's most well-known as a film franchise, Friday the 13th has also dipped into the world of games before, with the most recent major venture being 2017's Friday the 13th: The Game. After the license expired, the game was delisted on December 31, 2023, with online services ceasing exactly one year later.
Jason Universe's Robbie Barsamian confirmed that a "new sequel game" is in the works for Friday the 13th at an SDCC panel, as reported by ComicBook. While he noted there was nothing to officially announce regarding the game or a sequel film that he also mentioned, he did establish that "both are coming." Barsamian didn't clarify whether sequel meant a direct follow-up or simply another franchise entry.
