When speaking on the Social Strand System, Kojima mentioned that many players have continued to adventure throughout the dystopian landscape of Death Stranding 2 even after the main narrative has concluded. Kojima figures it could be due to the real-life world's state, with fans in need of some escapism, while still connecting to others through the game.
