AI is a huge sticking point within the games industry at the moment. While many developers are investing heavily in the technology, like Microsoft, which is replacing hundreds of employees with the tech, fans and players continue to reject its usage. We saw it just last week when League of Legends: Wild Rift and Pokemon posted content that was suspected to have been created by AI, and these past 12 months have seen games like Ark: Aquatica, The Alters, Call of Duty, InZoi, and Guitar Hero all fall foul of audience complaints.

Despite the backlash, though, developers don't seem phased, and in a recent talk, Sega admitted to creating a 'Generative AI Committee' to help integrate the tools as part of the company's workflow.

During a talk at CEDEC 2025, one of Japan's largest developer conferences, two representatives from Sega, Daishi Yokoshima (technical director of planning and research) and Atsuki Yagi (technical director of technology), appeared to discuss the use of generative AI in game development.
