Cuphead's Delicious Last Course DLC has been delayed.

On Twitter, Cuphead developer Studio MDHR announced that they have decided to delay the game's upcoming DLC. According to the tweet, the DLC was delayed in order to meet the developer's standards. They stated that they would rather delay the expansion than compromise quality.

"In true Studio MDHR fashion, we aren't content for this final chapter to be anything less than our best work," the tweet read. "Throughout development, we've challenged ourselves to put everything we learned from making Cuphead into the quality of The Delicious Last Course's animation, design, and music.

"Meeting this standard has been extremely challenging for us amid the global pandemic that has affected so many of our fellow developers. Rather than compromise on our vision in response to COVID, we've made the difficult decision to push back the release of The Delicious Last Course until we are confident it will delight the Cuphead community the way we feel it should.

"We know many of you have been waiting to return to the Inkwell Isles, and our goal is to make the trip back there next year a truly magical one."

The Delicious Last Course will bring a new island to Cuphead, along with a new character named Ms. Chalice. There will be new enemies and bosses for players to take on. No release window was given for The Delicious Last Course.

Last year it was announced that a Cuphead animated series is in the works. The series is called The Cuphead Show! and will be available on Netflix. The show will be a character-driven comedy that will follow the misadventures of Cuphead and his brother Mugman. Their adventures will take place across their surreal home of the Inkwell Isles.

Cuphead is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
