After a stunning finale to Fortnite Season 4, the Marvel heroes, led by an LA freeway's worth of Battle Buses equipped like portable bombs, defeated Galactus... at least for now. In his place rises a new slew of heroes and villains, featuring some Star Wars crossovers. Fortnite Season 5: Zero Point has arrived. Here's what you need to know.

The new season begins today, December 2, and introduces a new Battle Pass that ties into the game's ever-confusing story. As the "Zero Point" is now exposed on the map, this season's theme is all about Hunters from different dimensions drawn here, including The Mandalorian and his friend-in-tow, The Child a.k.a. "Baby Yoda" a.k.a. [spoilers redacted].

These new hunters have each brought a slice of home with them. New regions include an ancient arena, a jungle, and the exposed Zero Point, which today rests where The Agency once was before Midas blew it up and then Galactus tried to eat it. The region has seen its share of trouble over the seasons, no doubt.

These hunters will have challenges to take on in the form of new quests and bounties with rewards doled out in Bars, a new in-game currency players can use to recruit NPC hunters, buy new cosmetics, and more. Bars can also be found in secret stashes around the map or by defeating other players.

It wouldn't be a new season without new weapons. In Season 5, Fortnite adds a Dragon's Breath shotgun, The Mandalorian's Amban Sniper Rifle, the Night Hawk scoped weapon, a silenced pistol, and more. Additional weapons will arrive throughout the season.

On top of all that, Fortnite is teasing what appears to be more crossover events coming this season, promising that the hunters on the island are "only the first to arrive from outside the loop," before ending ominously: "who will be next?"

All of this comes alongside the launch of Fortnite Crew, a monthly subscription program for the free to play game. Subscribers unlock the current Battle Pass, receive a stipend of 1,000 V-Bucks every month, plus an exclusive character with at least one accessory every month as well. The program is available for $11.99 per month starting today. Players will keep their cosmetics even if they cancel their subscriptions. Fortnite Season 5: Zero Point is now available.
