Attorney General Sues Roblox Over Child Safety Concerns

The Attorney General of Louisiana, Liz Murrill, has filed a child protection lawsuit against Roblox, the popular game and creation tool, over concerns about child safety. The lawsuit has been filed in the 21st Judicial District of Louisiana, and alleges that Roblox is the "#1 gaming site for children and teens" and the service has failed to protect children and could enable illegal actions against minors.

This article contains information about alleged safety negligence that puts children and teenagers at risk of being harmed by sexual predators through grooming, child pornography, and other harmful content.

In a statement from Murrill's office, the lawsuit claims to show that Roblox has contributed to and facilitated the distribution of child sexual abuse material, knowingly ignored basic safety controls, and failed to provide notice to parents and children about the dangers of using the service. For these reasons, and additional ones, the state of Louisiana is seeking legal action against Roblox.
