If you wanted to try out Anthem ahead of its shutdown on January 12, 2026, then you're almost completely out of luck, because EA is doing all it can to make that impossible. As of today, Anthem is no longer available through EA Play and Xbox Game Pass, even though the servers will be online until next year.

This comes after Anthem was already delisted on Steam, PlayStation and Xbox digital stores, meaning there is no way to buy the game from EA and BioWare. Now, the game is only accessible to new players through the second-hand market, whether that's a physical copy or a digital code through third-party sellers.

As noted by Game Rant, three titles left Game Pass today. These are Farming Simulator 22, Persona 3 Reload, and Anthem. Of course, Persona 3 Reload is the big loss here in terms of value for Game Pass subscribers, since that was an incredibly well-received title, but the removal of Anthem is the most significant in terms of its wider impact.

It's easy to see why Anthem was removed from stores, since EA probably didn't want to deal with a bunch of angry players asking for refunds...
