As we’ve been noting on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast recently, it’s been hard waiting for Nintendo to not only release a TRUE Direct for us to see what’s coming next from them, but also waiting on the official sales numbers for the first month of the Nintendo Switch 2’s life. Thankfully, for the second one at least, the wait is now over. Nintendo dropped its official first quarter numbers for the fiscal year, which ended in June, and they confirmed that the Switch 2 has now sold the most console units in a launch month ever.
So, how much did it sell? As stated in their financial briefing (Page 15), by the end of June, which technically was just under a full month of sales, the Nintendo Switch 2 sold 5.82 million units. That’s well over the previous record holders of the PS4 and PS5, which each sold 4.5 million in their first month.
Furthermore, The Big N stated on page 13 of their briefing that through its first seven weeks, which the middle of July, the Switch 2 was well over 6 million units sold. In fact, as many can tell you, it’s selling so well...
